FVE weekend at Camperland - April 24-27

This last weekend, we headed up to Camperland at Bridal Falls, BC to join the Fraser Valley Explorers for some fun. We headed up there after work on Friday to join the other members in the clubhouse for Happy Hour and then dinner.  There was no campfire that night because of the rain so a movie was in order before an early bedtime. Allison and Tony arrived in time for the groups meeting that came right after breakfast in the clubhouse.
FVE's at Camperland
There was an open house for a few new rigs recently purchased by some members and we also opened ours for a few people thinking of downsizing. After some snacks and refreshments it was time to head back to the clubhouse for “The Amazing Race” FVE’s style. We spent a couple of hours racing (quickly walking as there was no running allowed) around the campground following clues and doing the required activities. All I can say is that I’m not a great colourer but I did memorize the rhyme and got the correct answer, Dale “sucked” at the candy sucking, and we both got the croquet balls through the hoops making us FIRST to finish and winning!

Allison and Tony came a close second but now have the 2nd. place “Cup of Shame” to hold onto until they can earn First place at another outing and pass it on to us. Happy Hour was next on the agenda, followed by a Pot Luck dinner where I won $57. in the 50/50 draw - not making our fellow FVE’s to happy. They say if a Warcup wins it again we’ll be ousted from the club! I won’t even tell you what John (the 50/50 organizer) is going to do to us! A fun campfire that evening and then off to bed.
Campfire!
After the continental breakfast in the clubhouse Sunday morning we parted ways and headed down to Silver Reef Casino for the Seniors day on Monday. A nice afternoon spent shopping in Bellingham and then off to Silver Reef in time for Happy Hour. We spent it with a nice older couple, Laurence & Mary from Merritt, BC that we met in the Parking lot. A little bit of “entertainment” and then off to an early movie/bedtime. Seniors buffet for lunch the next day and then home in the early afternoon so that we could celebrate "Gramps" and Ivy's birthday's with a dinner on
Tuesday.

La Conner with Mom & Dad - April 18/19

Mom & Dad Enjoying the Sunshine on the Boardwalk
Dale had to work for the next ten days so it gave me an opportunity to take my parents away for a few days. I took them down to La Conner. Wa. - a place they hadn’t been and I really enjoy.
What's A Sunny Day Without Ice Cream!
We spent a sunny afternoon on the waterfront, having lunch, browsing Antique Stores, and “drinking in” the atmosphere of the quaint little town. We had a nice evening - "Happy Hour", some cut throat Yahtzee games and then Apple Pie and Custard, a real English treat for "Afters". On Sunday we headed over to Camping World of course. I had to pick up a couple of table bases and legs for the new table we’d had built for the RV. We picked up a few groceries at Winco and home by late Sunday afternoon.

Traveland and Cultus Lake - April 10 - 14

Dale was off Friday and Saturday this week but because we had things to do around the house we stayed home. On Saturday, we decided to go out to Traveland in Langley where we had bought the Rig. There was an Open House so we figured what the heck - free lunch and we might see something we liked better than what we had. We did think though, that any new Rig had better have some really great “bells & whistles” to make us give up our beloved little Navion. We wandered around aimlessly looking for a while and then went over to the “lunch-line” forming at the BBQ. Who should be there BUT Allison and Tony - another couple of “LookieLou’s”! We spent a wonderful afternoon looking at all the new and used Rigs on the lot, fell in love with a Cambria and both of us seriously thought about trading up. We all went back to our place and spent the evening BBQ’ing and socializing - discussing all the Pro’s and Con’s of our well loved Navion’s as opposed to a new Cambria. In the end we are all still “Navioners”!
The View of the Lake from Our Site
Dale was off Monday & Tuesday and so we decided to head up the valley to Cultus Lake - somewhere we used to frequent when the kids were little but where we hadn’t camped for about 10 years.
The little creek close by.
What a change there was up there. Definitely a weekend resort town still - we were the only ones in the two out of four open campgrounds. We had a nice two days enjoying the peace and quiet - just walking and taking photo’s.
"Real Camping"!

La Conner - a spur of the moment visit!

The Waterfront in La Conner
After we got home from Cedars on Sunday, we spent the afternoon cleaning the rig, doing laundry and having dinner. When Dale went to check his schedule so he could  set his alarm for work the next day he realized that he was off Monday & Tuesday - he had a four day weekend. Bright and early the next morning, after the teens were off to school, we headed south once more. We stopped at Silver Reef - only for the buffet (seniors day!!!) and then headed to La Conner, Wa. We stopped at Camping World on the way - just because!

We spent a wonderful, sunny afternoon wandering around the quaint little town buying only a set of Teacup Cupcake moulds for my granddaughters upcoming "Tea Party Birthday". We headed back to Silver Reef - just because it's our favorite camping spot. We watched "Bogus" with Whoopi Goldberg and  off to bed. Home again the next day - another short, but fun getaway.

FVE - Cedars Resort - March 27-29/15

This weekend we spent once again at Cedars Resort in Ferndale, WA. with Fraser Valley Explorers. We arrived Friday afternoon in time for Happy Hour and the potluck dinner that followed. There was a "guess the baby" contest with everyone providing a photo of themselves as a baby - quite a change in appearances. Breakfast the next day was in the clubhouse with a chapter meeting after that. For free time we walked up the road a little to browse through some of the nearby stores. I picked up a couple of nicely scented candles for ambience in the rig and Kasey (yes - she came with us) got a chockfull of candy - 3/$1.00! When we got back, Allison and Tony, the newest members of FVE, had arrived and set up beside us. We had a happy hour of our own so Dale and Tony could gab about the rigs and then we went off to join the group happy hour in the clubhouse. This was followed by a wonderful Pasta dinner provided by the weekend hosts, Joe and Donna, a music memorabilia contest and the 50/50 draw. I wouldn't let Kasey by tickets because she won last time so Allison felt sorry for her and as a reward for beating Tony at Foozball she let her pick one of theirs. Everyone was ready to beat Kasey up because she won AGAIN - $47. and for the second time without buying a ticket herself!!!!
Having fun with friends - just before the rain started.

The evening ended after a quick campfire because of the rain that started shortly after it was lit. Continental Breakfast in the clubhouse and time to head home once again.
