Friday, Feb.6/15 - ROD STEWART!!!!

Finally - THE DAY! We got up and putzed around most of the morning. We went into the Casino and I lost $60 and Dale broke even. We had a swim and then got ready to take the free shuttle downtown about 2:40. It takes about 1/2 hour and the next one wasn’t until 4:20 and since our dinner reservations was 5:00 I didn't want to be late.
Anticipation!
We got downtown and wandered around and played a little at Caesars Palace (I won $62. whoohoo - I’m up $2. for the day!). We went to The Palm Restaurant for our dinner included in the package Dale had bought me for Christmas - it was very nice.
Larger than Life!
We then had about 45 minutes to wait.
The Stage - the closest I've ever been to his stage!
Finally they opened the doors about 6:45 and we went to our seats.

We were on the third row of the Orchestra - about 25-30 rows from the stage. All I can say it was GREAT!!!! He sang all the hits and because it was his 100th show in Vegas - he did a few extra, plus he had a few guests join him. His daughter Ruby sang a song she had written about him for his 70th. birthday, plus she sang with him on a few songs, he had a girl orchestra play with him (I forget their name but they also perform in Vegas) and some of the Vegas Showgirls joined him for “We’re having a party”.
Snappy Dresser!

He came up into the audience (heavily guarded of course) and walked the walkway three rows in front of us but didn’t look my way - BOOOO!
So Close - Look at me Rod!!!! If that bar hadn't
been in the aisle I would have got a soccer ball!
He kicked about a dozen signed soccer balls up into the audience but I didn’t manage to catch any - I did come close but a guy on the other side of the railing got it - Darn!

He closed with “Maggie May” and encored with “Do ya think I’m Sexy?” - it was over too soon! We cabbed it back to Sam’s Town and waited for Bob & Christina to arrive. They had expected to arrive about 8:30 but traffic out of San Diego was awful - it took 6 hours for a 4 hour drive. We chatted a little then off to bed for all of us - we were tired. A fantastic day!
