| Winner! |
We woke about 9:00 AM on Sunday Morning, had a quick breakfast and started off south once again. We needed diesel after a while and what should be coming soon but SEVEN FEATHERS CASINO RESORT. They are usually cheap for gas so there we went. Dale suggested we should go in and see what “Freebies” they had to offer so in we went. We signed up for a player card and got $5. in free slot plays but you had to put in some money of your own. $20. each and Dale won $75. and I won $95. A quick retreat through the exit, lunch across the street at Burger King and on our way once more. It was starting to rain as we left their parking lot. We headed south through Grants Pass and Medford where the rain really started to come down. We went over the top of Siskiyou Pass El:4310ft. and down the other side into California. Once we crested the top, the rain stopped and the sun came out - It really is “Sunny California”! We drove through Shasta Lake which really should be renamed Shasta Puddle because that’s really all that is left of it. It’s a shame to see such a wonderful place that we have so many fond memories of staying there in the past affected by such a drought.
We pulled into Camping World, Redding just as they were closing but had a peaceful night in there parking lot complete with Electricity and WiFi! Dinner was Dale’s favourite - Pork Chops and Rice-A-Roni - along with a little Broccoli. For those Rookie travellers - Most Camping Worlds let you stay overnight on their lots and some actually do have power and/or water hookups for you to use.
I should also mention that our GPS/radio/music player went haywire as we were at the border crossing in Blaine. Dale tried to lower the volume and it went down to 0 and stuck there. He fiddled with it a little and got it to come back up full volume but stuck there. It won’t play from the stick/Iphone plug so we are having to Bluetooth from our phones and reg. the volume from them also. The most annoying thing is the volume “screen” is permanently stuck across it so it’s sometimes hard to see the directions, etc. on the map - AARRGGHH! Good thing it’s on Warranty but we have to wait to get home to have it fixed or replaced.
