As soon as Camping World opened at 8:00, Dale went in to see if they could do an oil change. They had to check and see if they could get a filter and the special oil we needed (It’s a Mercedes you know!). They had it there within an hour and so we browsed and WiFi’d to our hearts content while the Navion was getting a little TLC. Unfortunately the WiFi kept timing out before my photos could upload so I couldn’t publish the Blog. We’ll have to stop for coffee at a McDee’s or somewhere I guess. I bought some special travel crayons for the grandkiddliebeans (SHHH - don’t tell them it’s a surprise next time they camp with us!) They were on the clearance table for $1.02 - reduced from $6.99 so I bought both packs to lessen the fights over colours!
About 10:30 the Navion was ready to go. As they were totalling up the bill and we were waiting to pay there was a lot of discussion behind the desk between the young lady and the manager. Apparently our bill was totalling a LOT MORE than the $169.99 quoted on the board and what she had told us our charge would be. The poor girl didn’t know that the $169.99 was for a basic oil change and not for the specialized one that our Navion needed. The manager had to let it go at that but we did have to pay the sales tax on the seven quarts of synthetic oil (not only that but special synthetic oil) that “It’s a Mercedes you Know” Navion needed! All in all it was $211. and once more a great deal for us at Camping World.

| Hmmm - soon it was smelling so good inside the Rig! |
Out in the parking lot we started battening down all hatches and getting ready to roll once more. I chopped some veggies and put them in the 12V. slow cooker I have along with some stew beef and spices. I set it into the sink in case of slops and plugged it into the conveniently placed 12V. plug in the cupboard above the sink. It is actually there for a 12V. TV along with an antennae/cable plug but how much better can it get to have it there so you can cook while you travel. I hope someone at Winnebago Industries is reading my blog and know how happy I am that it’s there! Actually I hope that anyone more than my Pal Alison reads this blog - she’s the only one I know “Stalking” me. Thanks Alison - wish you could be with us instead. If there is anyone else - feel free to comment in the comment section so I know you’re out there!

| We were there and left in a hurry! |
Soon we were on our way once more. Needing diesel again and nearing The Rolling Hills Casino, off the highway we came. We went inside to get a players card and see what enticements they had to offer. No Monday Seniors day or anything so we just used the $10. each Free Play they gave us (Plus $40 but we won't talk about that), got gas and off we went.

One of the weird looking trees we've been
seeing since we got to northern California. |
We continued south on through Sacramento. We always set our GPS to “shortest route” so it took us the back way and along a dike following the Sacramento River. We saw some beautiful, grand homes across on the other bank and quaint little farms on our side, travelling under some huge old trees. Being winter they were bare but I’d love to come back in the summer and see what I can only imagine as very cooling foliage. It’s a shame though to see the river as just a little creek running through sharp, steep slopes that are now it’s river banks. The drought ridden area is very prevalent. We have crossed over many bridges of creeks and rivers that are only a trickle or entirely dried up. We hit Sacramento at rush hour but there wasn’t too much traffic and soon we were through and on our way to Merced. I had looked at our Harvest Host book earlier, found a spot on route and called them. Vista Ranch and Cellars would be happy to have us.
